The TCL 43V6D is designed as an entry-level 4K smart TV, but it still packs a surprising amount of modern features for its price. It uses a Direct LED panel with HVA technology, which improves contrast and viewing angles compared to older basic LED TVs. The 4K UHD resolution (3840×2160) ensures sharp images, especially when watching high-quality content like Netflix or YouTube in 4K.

In terms of picture processing, TCL includes its AiPQ engine, which automatically enhances color, contrast, and clarity in real time. This makes everyday content—like DSTV, sports, or HD channels—look cleaner and more vibrant.

The TV supports multiple HDR formats such as HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision (depending on version), which helps improve brightness and color detail in supported movies. However, the brightness level is around 280–350 nits, meaning HDR effects are present but not very dramatic compared to higher-end TVs.

On the smart side, it runs Google TV (Android 12), which is one of the biggest strengths of this model. You get access to thousands of apps via the Play Store, plus built-in Google Assistant, Chromecast, and even Apple AirPlay for easy screen sharing. The interface is smooth for normal use thanks to 2GB RAM and a quad-core processor, though heavy multitasking may feel slightly slow.

For audio, the TV includes Dolby Audio / Dolby Atmos support with around 20W output. While dialogue is clear, bass is limited, so pairing it with a soundbar significantly improves the experience.

Gaming performance is basic but usable. The TV has a 60Hz native refresh rate, meaning it’s fine for casual gaming on consoles like PS4 or Xbox Series S, but it won’t deliver high-frame-rate gaming. Some features like “Game Accelerator” may only work at lower resolutions or vary by size.
